Glenora Park Breaking new ground in Memory Care.

All residents at Glenora Park enjoy industry-leading recreational programming, and those in the Memory Care program receive the same richness of activity with more in-depth and smaller-scale programming.

Retired seniors are ready to have fun. After a lifetime of hard work, it’s time to enjoy retirement with a good measure of indulgence, adventure and leisure.

That said, according to the World Health Organization there are currently more than fifty million people across the globe living with different kinds of dementia and that number is expected to rise to 152 million by 2050 (1). Glenora Park Retirement Residence believes you can lead a vibrant and enriched life both mentally and physically, no matter your circumstances.

The Alzheimer Society of Canada reports dementia mostly affects older adults, but it is not an expected part of aging. Signs of dementia include forgetting names, places, appointments or conversations; not being able to carry out once routine tasks; forgetting or substituting words that don’t fit the context; losing interest in friends, family and activities that used to be enjoyable and isolating ourselves from others, but there are ways to combat against this.

Glenora Park offers a best-in-class Memory Care program, revolutionizing how we think of memory care communities.

The program supports individuals with mild to moderate memory loss, including Alzheimer’s Disease and other forms of dementia; it empowers them to live fulfilling and meaningful lives in a beautiful neighbourhood setting.

Members of Glenora Park's memory care community begin their journey before move-in, with assessments and discussions, and this will continue throughout the journey. Navigating dementia can be demanding, which is why we offer spaces to educate and support the resident’s family circle as well.

Personalized to the individual, our Memory Care program offers best-practice, evidence-based approaches to enhance quality of life for those experiencing cognitive challenges, and it considers the essential elements of the resident’s life.

All residents at Glenora Park enjoy industry-leading recreational programming offered by our Active Living team members. For those in the Memory Care program, we provide the same richness of activity, however with more in-depth and smaller-scale programming.

To support memory care residents, you’ll find remarkable living spaces with wayfinding tools, looping hallways, and bright open spaces for residents to explore throughout their day, all curated to fit their needs and pique their interests. Whether recreation, meal choice or the time a resident wakes up, it is all about freedom of expression and choice, and a sense of independence.

The Glenora Park team is trained in industry-leading, dementia-specific courses like the Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) through AGEinc and our signature empathy training sessions. The team understands profoundly the importance of enriching life experiences, of preserving cherished memories and of fostering connections in a safe and inclusive neighbourhood setting.

Glenora Park is a vibrant community. It’s not unusual to see residents, team members and family members all enjoying a meal together, creating a sense of inclusion built on trust and familiarity — the bedrock of memory care.
